The Grup d’Investigació en Ensenyament de Llengües (Language Teaching Research Group, GIEL) is based in the Department of Language and Literature Teaching in the Faculty of Education at the University of València. It includes researchers who investigate the teaching of first, second and foreign languages (Spanish, Catalan and English). Our research mainly focuses on language teaching and learning, and the role of grammar in the development and mastery of linguistic abilities in multilingual contexts from Pre-school to College Education. In 2014, GIEL was officially acknowledged by the University of Valencia (INV_GIUV13).
At present, Dr. Carmen Rodríguez Gonzalo is our group coordinator and group members are researchers and PhD/MA students from the University of València, the Jaume I University of Castelló, and the Leeds Metropolitan University (UK).
GIEL performs two fundamental and interrelated tasks: research on language teaching and transfer of knowledge, which is carried out through innovation in education and teacher education activities and programs in collaboration with educational centres and teachers in Pre-school, Primary and Secondary Education.
